Requirements for Becoming a Wireless Technician

While some aspects of working as a wireless technician are similar to working as a wireless engineer, the core responsibilities of most wireless technicians are to a) provide maintenance and repairs for wireless devices and b) help build and repair wireless communication infrastructure. In general, you will need the following credentials to succeed as a wireless technician:

  • Associates degree in engineering, computer science, or a related quantitative field
  • For more advanced positions, a bachelor’s degree may be required.
  • Knowledge of circuit theory, digital electronics, computer troubleshooting, and other wireless-related technical topics
  • Strong foundational knowledge of wireless communication and wireless technology, which you can receive through various online training programs
