5G NR Carrier Aggregation Log Analysis Workshop

This half-day course introduces Release 15 New Radio Carrier Aggregation (CA). Device logs, collected in live 5G networks, are presented to demonstrate how NR CA works in all aspects, including NSA mmW DL/UL, SA/NSA sub-6 F+T, T+F, and F+F CA. We also discuss NR CA deployment scenarios and considerations.

  • Learn how carrier aggregation combats data congestion in networks and allows for enhanced 5G performance and network capacity.
  • Learn how carrier aggregation helps make room for data to flow faster by combining multiple component carriers (CCs) for wider bandwidths.
  • Discuss aggregating spectrum chunks in 5G NR to create a set of parallel wireless data pipes/links between gNB and UE over-the-air.
  • Introduce Release 15 New Radio Carrier Aggregation (CA).
  • Present device logs (collected in live 5G networks) to demonstrate how NR CA works in all aspects, including the following:
    • NSA mmW DL/UL
    • SA/NSA sub-6 F+T
    • T+F
    • F+F CA
  • Discuss NR CA deployment scenarios and considerations.

  • Demonstrate SCell configuration/release procedures.
  • Describe SCell activation/deactivation procedures.
  • Detail NR-CA scheduling operation.
  • Explain CSI reporting during CA operation.
  • Detail HARQ feedback during CA operation.
  • Discuss CA mobility procedures.
  • Discuss NR CA major deployment scenarios.
  • Review NR CA deployment considerations, including: Single vs dual PUCCH group: Single vs multiple TAG, Co-location vs non-colocation, Same vs multiple RAN vendors.
